Shared Responsibility for Electrical Safety
Table of Contents
Rising Importance of Electrical Safety in the Workplace
Electrical safety importance is growing year after year. It is not only about compliance with standards and regulations, but also about responsibility of electrical engineers, managers, and employers. Electrical safety awareness is important for production continuity and safety culture at work. This very issue was the focus of the Electrical Safety Conference Europe 2025 (ESC EU), held on October 23–24 in Cracow.
The event, organized by MR Power Systems, brought together experts from across Europe — representatives of industry, technical organizations, and solution suppliers.

Arc Flash Risk Assessment and Practical Protection Strategies
Over the course of two days in Cracow, the discussions centered around the most pressing topics in the field: arc flash protection, electric shock risk assessment, the implementation of modern personal protective equipment, and the interpretation of current and emerging European standards. The focus was on practice over theory.
Experts emphasized that while standards and regulations provide a necessary framework, the true challenge begins with their implementation in the workplace. That is when experience, awareness, and collaboration between engineering, maintenance, and safety departments become crucial.

Engineering Insights: Arc Flash Hazards Still Underestimated
Participants agreed that arc flash remains one of the most significant hazards in electrical environments , just after electric shock hazard which is leading electrical hazard. Arc Flash consequences can be catastrophic, while awareness of its risks in many facilities remains insufficient.
Speakers — including engineers with extensive experience in electrical safety, electrical systems and safety professionals— highlighted the need for comprehensive risk assessments and the proper selection of PPE, adapted to specific working conditions.
Presentations also underscored the importance of personnel training, human factors and the creation of procedures that shape a true safety culture within organizations.

Innovative Electrical Safety Technologies at the Expo Zone
ESC EU 2025 conference was not limited to technical lectures. The expo area showcased a wide range of innovative solutions — from arc flash detection systems, diagnostic and measurement equipment, to protective clothing and tools which enhance electrical safety.
Exhibitors and participants had the opportunity to engage directly, exchange experiences, and establish valuable business relationships. For many attendees, networking proved to be one of the most valuable aspects of the event, fostering collaboration between industry, technology providers, and consulting organizations.

Networking, Regulation Trends, and the Future of Safe Energy Systems
The atmosphere throughout the conference was both professional and inspiring.
In informal discussions, attendees reflected on the upcoming changes in European electrical safety regulations, the future of electrical infrastructure, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), PV systems, EV cars and ongoing life electrification. All of this requires proper approach to electrical risk assessments
There was also much discussion on the growing role of digitalization in monitoring and analysing electrical systems — from smart sensors to integrated digital twin platforms.

Electrical Safety as a Strategic Priority for Industry
The Electrical Safety Conference Europe 2025 in Kraków demonstrated that electrical safety today is not an isolated discipline — it is a strategic one.
It requires awareness, a systemic approach, and collaboration across organizational boundaries.
Participants left Kraków not only with the latest knowledge and inspiration, but also with a clear view that investing in safety means investing in the future — of both people and the installation.
